How Does EditPress Work?
We have created a great solution to a very basic problem. How can you get more eyes to proofread your paper without spending an arm and a leg elsewhere? We have leveraged the power of Amazon's mechanical turk to power the first of 3 editing phases, with terrific results.
-
First, your submitted paper is broken down into manageable chunks, typically by paragraphs and each paragraph is submitted to the mechanical turk for proofreading.
-
After the first proofreading, each paragraph is proofread by 5 different people and that revision is stored at Editpress.org
-
Each paragraph and its associated revisions are then voted on by 25 different people who judge based on grammar, spelling, and staying "true" to the original paragraph
-
The chosen paragraphs are then combined back together and the finished product is sent to one of our associate editors who proofreads for missed grammatical and spelling mistakes, as well as checking for deviation away from the original paragraph.
-
Once the editor approves the piece, a chief editor (high ranking and thoroughly screened) must approve the changes and make any final formatting adjustments.
-
You are alerted via email that your paper is ready and a link is made available to download your paper in various formats.
Oh, did we mention that the entire process takes less than 25 minutes?
